Kubanka is a uniform fur hat of the Kuban and Terek Cossack troops, a small papakha. The word "Kubanka" came out in the First World War. It is a hat made of black and colored sheep skins with a cloth or leather colored top (red, blue, green). Kubanka is worn on holidays and on special occasions. Many traditions have sunk into oblivion and have become interesting stories for the younger generation.
The hats come in sizes: 7, 7 1/8, 7 1/4, 7 1/2 and 7 3/4. (Russian Sizes: 56, 57, 58-59, 60-61 and 62). To find out your hat size, using a tape measure, measure the widest part of your head, just above the ears and eyebrows, to the nearest 1/4th inch.
